The Morning Market

A2

Every Saturday morning, Maria goes to the local market with her mother. They wake up early, at seven o'clock, and walk together through the quiet streets. The market opens at eight, but they like to arrive before the crowds. At the market, there are many colorful stalls with fresh vegetables, fruit, and flowers. Maria's favorite stall sells strawberries and oranges. She always asks the vendor how much they cost and practises counting money. Her mother buys bread, cheese, and sometimes a small bunch of flowers for the kitchen table. On the way home, they stop at a small café and share a cup of hot chocolate. Maria loves these Saturday mornings.
